List of Things to Take on a Trip

Nowadays, traveling has become a common occurrence. With the increase in the number of tourist companies and destinations for leisure, one can go to a neighboring city or abroad within a few days. You just need to pack up, prepare the necessary things and documents, and you can hit the road. But haste always leads to forgetting something important. Therefore, to pack your suitcases optimally, it is necessary to make a list of things to take on a trip and follow it.

Preparation stage before a trip

It is important to understand that distant trips require at least minimal preparation. If it’s another country, before making a list of things to take on a trip, be sure to familiarize yourself with the climate, customs, local customs, and procedures. Even a simple gesture that means “I’m okay” in Russia can be considered an insult in some countries. Therefore, the first step for any trip should be to study the country and city you plan to visit. For this, it is best to use two sources – official information, as well as reviews from real travelers who have been there before. Next, familiarize yourself with the procedure for obtaining permits and visas (if the trip is planned outside the country). In this case, it is advisable to check the information on the website of the embassy of the country you plan to visit. Don’t be lazy to find out what language they speak there, which foreign languages are a priority. If possible, you should buy a simple phrasebook with the most commonly used phrases.

The list of things to take on a trip should start with documents and money. This is not just a precautionary measure. Without a passport (and in most cases a visa), you will not be able to cross the border of your own or neighboring country. It is necessary to always remember that in many countries there are increased security measures, so walking on the streets without documents is very risky – you can end up in a police station until the circumstances are clarified. A cash reserve will give you the opportunity for maneuvers – you never know what kind of souvenir you might want to take with you. It is advisable to keep money in a 50/50 proportion: half on a bank card and half in cash. At the same time, divide the cash into several places of storage. The optimal currency is the US dollar. It is easy to exchange them practically in all countries of the world. Moreover, the exchange rate of this currency is quite acceptable, which makes it possible not to take huge sums of money with you. Be sure to notify your bank about your trip to another country, so that the bank approves the use of the card abroad, otherwise your card may be blocked.

Remember to have clear medical prescriptions (preferably translated into English) so as not to be suspected by customs and then by the police in the country of your destination. Clarify in advance which medications are allowed and whether your medications are prohibited. If you discover this, look for authorized alternatives to immediately dispel any suspicions.

You don’t need to include everything on your trip list because you can bring other necessary items depending on the destination. For example, if it’s a ski resort, skis, snowboards, fins, masks, etc. can be rented on site. Don’t bring extra food as it should only be enough for your trip and nothing more. The same goes for the number of toys for children, books, and various auxiliary devices. Small things can easily be bought on site, while larger items can be rented. This is especially important if you are planning a trip, including hiking, when you have to carry all this weight on your back.

Many of us have pets who have become a part of the family over the years. Therefore, some tourists often try not to leave their pets behind and take them with them. In this case, there are several simple restrictions to understand, such as vaccinations, documents for animals, ticket arrangements for their travel, and special transportation. Another detail to consider is the legislation of the country you plan to visit. It is better to find out in advance whether you can enter with such an animal to avoid problems at the border.

The list of things to bring on your trip is individual, and we have included only the most important ones. You should add your own items that are necessary and specific to your family.

By following these simple rules, you can enjoy your trip without worrying about forgetting something important. The main thing is not to forget to turn off the iron before leaving.
